Ashwini Londhe

Ashwini lives in a slum settlement in Jogeshwari with her parents, grandmother, younger brother, and two cousins. Ashwini's mother is a housemaid and the family's primary source of income, while her father works a daily wage job and occasionally receives some extra income. Her grandmother is confined to her home because she is elderly and has health difficulties. At one point in time, she used to go and beg for money, but now she is too frail to do that. Ashwini’s father supports his orphan niece and nephew too (who are now supported by RA) and they struggle to support the kids and give them a quality life. Her mother occasionally receives food from the owner's home, which is some relief to the family.

Even though the parents are uneducated, they want to support the education and wellbeing of their kids. As Ashwini is growing up, the environment in the community and the lack of resources at home are putting pressure on her education and growth. Ashwini is in Class VI and has a desire to study and make an impact in her family. She will be enrolled in St Xaviers High School, Panchgani in the VII th Std.
